A strategic milestone for STnano and our regional nanotech ecosystem

11 June 2026
STnano, the leading nanotechnology facility in the Grand Est region, is pleased to announce the signature of an agreement with Raith for the acquisition of a Raith Pioneer II lithography system, a cutting-edge nanofabrication platform that strengthens our position as a major player in 2D materials, spintronic and quantum technologies.

Enhanced technological capabilities

The Raith Pioneer II delivers exceptional performance for our core expertise areas:

  • Ultimate resolution down to 10 nm in electron beam lithography (EBL), essential for complex spintronic architectures
  • Positioning precision < 5 nm, critical for tunnel junctions and demanding quantum devices
  • Materials versatility: exploitation of next-generation resists for nanomagnetic applications
  • Improved production speed, reducing prototyping timelines in spintronics, plasmonic and quantum nanotechnology

This acquisition accelerates our capacity to develop and prototype groundbreaking devices in the fields of 2D nanoelectronics, spin sensors, and quantum magnetic architectures, further strengthening STnano’s service portfolio..

A collective investment in European innovation

We would like to warmly thank the Région Grand Est, the PEPR Electronique, Eurometropole de Strasbourg, CNRS, Strasbourg University, the European Union, Interreg Upper Rhine Valley program within the UpquanVal project for their vision and commitment to technological excellence. This strategic support is essential for maintaining the competitiveness of our innovation ecosystem in the Grand Est region and enhancing STnano’s attractiveness to the European scientific and industrial community.
