Scanning tunneling microscopy (STM) of single atoms & molecules, magnetism

Current research

A magnetic molecule at the tip apex. By crafting a molecular probe-tip in a controlled fashion, we elaborated a new method for mapping surface magnetism at the atomic-scale.

Manipulating the spin states of a molecule. Nickelocene is a molecule with quantum spin states in a metallic environment, even at the tip apex of the STM. The occupation of these states can be controlled via the inelastic tunneling current. Nano Letters | February 2017
