Current research activities

My activities focus on the design and synthesis of self-organized π-conjugated materials. The control of the organization is most often achieved by functionalizing the compounds with flexible chains (e.g. alkyl or siloxane chains) at particular positions. I am particularly interested in stabilizing (macro)molecular systems in various mesomorphic organizations for optoelectronic applications.

Further functionalization of molecules with siloxane flexible chains allows to develop πfunctional molecular liquids, i.e. compounds that are in a stable liquid state (without solvent) at room temperature. The targeted application is electroluminescent devices.

Area of expertise:

  • Self-organized organic systems (mesomorphic, liquid crystalline…)
  • π-Functional molecular liquids
  • Siloxane-containing organic materials
  • π-conjugated molecules and polymers for optoelectronic applications (semiconductors, organic photovoltaics, OLEDs..)
